Rogers Lewis Attorneys Walker, Blake and McCants Named to 2015 Legal Elite of the Midlands

Three attorneys at Rogers Lewis Law Firm have been named to Columbia Business Monthly 2015 Legal Elite of the Midlands.
Shaun Blake, John McCants and Drew Walker have been recognized in the following practice areas:

To determine the winners of the annual Legal Elite of the Midlands, Columbia Business Monthly asks more than 2,000 attorneys practicing in the Midlands area to nominate who they believe to be the top attorneys in 20 different practice areas. Respondents could not nominate themselves, and any in-firm nomination had to be accompanied by an out-of-firm nomination.
Below are complete bios for attorneys Shaun Blake, John McCants and Drew Walker.
Shaun Blake
Shaun’s practice is centered on high-stakes litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants, with a focus on business and fiduciary litigation. He also works as outside coordinating counsel for a national property and casualty insurer in connection with a wide range of agency, reinsurance, and transactional matters. In addition to performing as lead counsel on multi-district litigation and a related arbitration over the termination of a P&C insurance program, Shaun has also represented both employers and terminated professionals, health care clients, governmental entities and real estate property and rental firms.
John McCants
John’s practice focuses on construction and commercial law – including bankruptcy law – for which he has served as lead counsel in numerous cases in federal and state trial and appellate courts. He is experienced in jury trials, non-jury trials, mediation and arbitration. His 27 years of experience includes cases related to construction defects, fidelity and surety, mechanic liens, product liability, Uniform Commercial Code, bankruptcy and insolvency, debtor and creditor, appellate advocacy, insurance coverage, torts, dispute avoidance and resolution, contract documents, real estate litigation and class actions.
John has represented parties in residential and commercial construction cases involving single-family houses, multi-family buildings, high-rise condominiums, hotels and commercial office buildings. He has also represented insurance companies in disputes involving commercial general liability insurance, business property and casualty insurance, construction defect and bad faith claims. His experience also includes representing creditors in commercial and debtor/creditor law cases including bankruptcy. Read more about John here.
Drew Walker
Drew focuses his practice on commercial litigation matters including banking, finance and real estate disputes. He routinely represents his clients in the courtroom concerning issues that involve title insurance claims, mortgage banking, claim and delivery (replevin) and Article 9, debt collection, unauthorized practice of law accusations, landlord-tenant issues and real estate disputes. Drew counsels national, regional and local companies that include lenders, title insurance companies, landlords, private businesses as well as individuals and borrowers. Drew is a former director of the Palmetto Land Title Association, which maintains the professional standards and ethics of the Title Insurance Industry in South Carolina, provides information and education to consumers and maintains liaison with users of the products and services provided by its members. He also serves on the South Carolina Bar’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, and is a Board Member and Big Brother in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia.
