Rotary Club of Five Points celebrates 70th anniversary of service and community engagement

August 12, 2024

The Rotary Club of Five Points proudly announces the celebration of its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of dedicated service, community engagement, and fostering goodwill locally and internationally.

In 1954, a group of businessmen in one of Columbia’s thriving commercial and cultural districts decided a service club, commensurate with area success, was needed. They founded the Rotary Club of Five Points (Columbia), now a proud member of Rotary District 7770 and Rotary International. Over the years, the club has undertaken numerous initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents, supporting education, promoting health, and contributing to global humanitarian efforts, embodying the Rotary International motto of “Service Above Self.”

The Rotary Club of Five Points has a rich legacy of impactful projects, including the establishment of local scholarships, organizing several community engagement events, supporting school drives, disaster relief efforts, and participating in international initiatives such as the eradication of polio. The club’s commitment to making a difference is evident through its ongoing support for local schools and education, food banks, and environmental conservation projects. The Rotary Club of Five Points ranks number one in District 7770 for Annual Fund Per Capita giving.

“We are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone,” said Dr. Robert Walker, President of the Rotary Club of Five Points. “Our 70th anniversary is not just a reflection of our past achievements but a testament to the enduring spirit of our members and the positive change we aspire to bring in our community and beyond. We look forward to continuing our mission of service for many more years to come.”

The Rotary Club of Five Points invites all members, community partners, and residents to join in the celebration and be a part of this historic event. Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more vibrant community.
