Rotary Club of Five Points inducts new president, board, and committee chairs

Rotary Club of Five Points held a ceremony on June 23 at the Hilton Garden Inn for the installation of the club’s new President and President-elect for 2023-2024. Wade Sparks, current President-elect, has replaced Olivia Jones as the new President of the Rotary Club. Sparks brings a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to the role, ensuring a continued legacy of service and community engagement.

In addition to the installation, the club honored two significant members with awards of excellence during the 2022-2023 club year. Andrew Folks was awarded the Charlie Foster Rotarian of the Year Award for his work building membership for the club and Teri Callen was awarded the LE Spradlin Service Above Self Award.

Outgoing President, Olivia Jones, who successfully steered the club during her term, expressed confidence in Sparks as the new leader: “It has been an honor to serve as President of the Rotary Club of Five Points and witness the incredible impact our club has made in our community. I have complete faith in Wade’s ability to build upon our achievements and lead the club to even greater heights. His passion for service and unwavering commitment to Rotary’s values make him the perfect choice for this role.”

Sparks expressed gratitude for the opportunity and shared his vision for the future: “I am humbled and honored to assume the role of President for the Rotary Club of Five Points. Rotary is an extraordinary organization that has the power to transform lives and communities. I am committed to continuing the legacy of service and collaboration, working hand in hand with our dedicated members and community partners to create lasting change.”

Reflecting on the club’s accomplishments and the importance of Rotary’s mission, Jones stated, “During my tenure as President, we witnessed firsthand the transformative power of Rotary’s service projects and initiatives. I am confident that Wade will lead the club with the same spirit of compassion, innovation, and dedication. Together, we will further Rotary’s mission and inspire positive change in Columbia.”

The Rotary Club of Five Points is known for its diverse range of projects and initiatives, including contributions to the ETV Endowment of South Carolina and many other community programs, educational scholarships, and local charity partnerships. Under the leadership of Sparks, the club aims to expand its reach, engage more community members, and continue making a difference in the lives of those in need.
