Rotary Club of Spring Valley awards community grants

$50,000 provided to local non-profit organizations and for scholarships in 2016
The Rotary Club of Spring Valley awarded its 2016 community grants on March 10 to forty-one local non-profit organizations. In addition, six $1,500 scholarships will be awarded in May to Northeast Columbia graduating seniors, bringing Spring Valley Rotary’s total community contribution this year to $50,000.
The awards were made possible through the success of the club’s annual pecan sale with 100% of the proceeds from the annual fundraiser being returned to the community. “Our members were thrilled with the success of our fundraising efforts this year in light of our current economy, the devastating floods last October and we are proud to support so many worthy organizations,” said club president Bill Oliver. “Add this to our more than $50,000 contribution this year to The Rotary Foundation to support additional local and international Rotary projects, and we’ve had our most successful fundraising year in the history of the club,” said Oliver.

The Rotary Club of Spring Valley was founded in 1978 and has more than 115 members dedicated to implementing the ideals of Rotary in Northeast Columbia.
