SAFE’s Carrie Young a finalist in Carolinas League CUaware competition

September 7, 2016

Carrie Young, Executive Assistant at SAFE Federal Credit Union, has claimed the CUaware Protégé competition title for the Columbia Chapter of the Carolinas Credit Union League.

She has advanced to the final evaluation, which will be October 6 in Asheville, North Carolina, with chapter winners from across the two states. The competition is aimed at under-35 professionals who are rising in their careers.

Young has been Executive Assistant at SAFE, one of the largest credit unions based in South Carolina, for one year, and has worked in the credit union industry for four years.

Communication skills are a key element of CUaware competition, and Young says her work at SAFE has prepared her well. As part of the competition, Young spoke on the subject of how credit unions can adapt to the ever-changing climate in which they do business, through means such as adopting an innovative culture and investing in their employees.

Young lives in Lexington, South Carolina, and is married with three children. She serves on the CUaware leadership council for the Columbia Chapter. The prize in the October competition is a scholarship, and if Young wins she plans to apply it to CUNA (Credit Union National Association) Management School.
