SC7 Features Laurens County as Part of 30-Day Expedition
July 13, 2022SOUTH CAROLINA SC7 is a partnership between two South Carolina based non-profit organizations, Global Eco Adventures and the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor. The mission of SC7 is to get people in the outdoors so they gain an appreciation for the outdoors, and therefore begin to actively do their part to protect the outdoors.
The signature event of SC7 is a 30-day expedition across South Carolina in July and led by world renowned explorer and South Carolina native, Tom Mullikin.
“SC7 is a first-of-its-kind expedition to involve thousands of people in one spectacular event. I love being a part of this effort that highlights the work of our residents, communities, and corporations to not only provide outdoor recreation, but also to protect our resources for future generations,” said Michelle McCollum, Logistics Officer for SC7.
Now in its third year the annual expedition highlights the ‘CAROLINA 7’ – so-named for the seven geographic wonders unique to the Palmetto State. Along the SC7 2022 route, the expedition team holds public events, media events, Lunch & Learns, the “Adventure Out” weekend in Charleston, and a Finish Line Celebration.
On Wednesday, July 13 SC7 came to Laurens County to hike 5 wonderful miles along the Enoree Passage of the Palmetto Trial. Joining them today was Lt. Governor Evette, and several Laurens County residents.
“Having the SC 7 on the Palmetto Trail is a blessing for Laurens County. The attention it brings in social media to the Palmetto trail alone is extremely valuable,” said Andy Howard, Laurens County Parks and Recreation Director. “The visitors that come as well will likely return and will most likely pass the word that the Laurens County section of the Palmetto Trail is attractive and well maintained.”
After the morning hike that started at the Brickhouse Campground the group enjoyed lunch at another Laurens County treasure, Musgrove Mill Golf Club.
“We should keep wherever we live clean,” said Lt. Governor Evette. “SC7 helps residents realize what a beautiful state we live in.”
Have you hiked along the Enoree Passage? If not, you might want to. There is so much beauty right here in Laurens County and we are grateful that SC7 chose Laurens County to highlight in their 30-day expedition.
