School District Five schools ranked in the top 15 by U.S. News & World Report

Lexington-Richland School District Five is a leader in South Carolina for preparing students for college, and three of its schools are ranked among the top high schools in the state and nation, according to a new U.S. News & World Report ranking.
School District Five has the second highest college readiness rating in South Carolina, according to the new report. Spring Hill High is ranked sixth best high school in the state, while Dutch Fork High is ranked 11th, followed by Chapin High at number 14. All three schools are also ranked nationally by U.S. News & World Report.
“We are so excited and thrilled that Spring Hill High School has been named as the #6 Best Public High School in South Carolina by U.S. News & World Report,” Spring Hill High School principal Dr. Michael Lofton said. “This award celebrates the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our entire Spring Hill family. Our students challenge and motivate each other to achieve great things. The dedication and determination of our faculty and staff to provide a top notch learning environment is truly inspirational. Our parents believe in what we are doing and support us every step of the way. This award belongs to our entire school community and I could not be more proud of what we are accomplishing. It is The Spring Hill WAY!”
The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were evaluated on state-mandated assessments, as well as the academic achievement levels of its minority and economically disadvantaged students. Performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams were also used.
“We are proud of the hard work our teachers and students have put into making Dutch Fork High such a great school and are excited that US News and World Report’s Best High Schools has recognized us for our efforts,” said Dutch Fork High School principal Dr. Gerald Gary. “Our entire community shares this recognition as we would not be successful without its support.”
There are 221 South Carolina schools honored in the 2022 rankings.
School District Five Superintendent Dr. Akil E.
