SCRA Holds Winter Strategic Advisory Group Meeting

March 9, 2012

Announces Addition of Four High-Profile Members

The group was formed in June 2010 to provide feedback and guidance to assist SCRA in executing its business strategy and economic development mission. The group is comprised of 16 prominent individuals and includes retired Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps senior leadership, former Cabinet officials, a previous South Carolina Governor, former Ambassador and high-profile leaders from the small business, large industry and investment arenas.

Recent additions to the group include Doug MacIntyre, Vice Admiral Chuck Munns, Dave Fellows and Paul Schneider.

A native South Carolinian, Doug MacIntyre is a retired information technology executive whose career in strategy and operations has spanned from start-ups to the Fortune 500. He has led companies through formation, growth, global expansion, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions. MacIntyre served on the executive team of Dun & Bradstreet Corporation and was CEO of D&B Software, a global leader in enterprise software and services with 3000 business and government customers in 50 countries.

VADM Chuck Munns served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), LLC. In this position, he was responsible to the Department of Energy for safe, effective and efficient management and operations of the Savannah River Site. Prior to joining SRNS, Munns served for 34 years in the US Navy’s most high-profile and challenging positions, attaining the rank of Vice Admiral. Prior to retirement, VADM Munns commanded the US Submarine Force, which included all US submarines worldwide, had a $12 billion annual budget and employed more than 21,000 people.

Fellows, the retired CTO of Comcast Cable, is currently a general partner with Genovation Capital (a stage-agnostic private equity and consulting company) and serves on the Boards of the public company Anadigics, several private companies and non-profits and the industry group Cable Television Pioneers. Prior to his role at Comcast, Fellows served as the CTO of ATT Broadband, which was subsequently acquired by Comcast. Here he developed and launched the infrastructure for the “Triple Play” of digital video, high speed data and telephony. He also headed the central operations group that ran the core network and was responsible for about $6 billion of yearly capital spending.

A former Deputy Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, Schneider managed day-to-day operations of an organization with approximately 220,000 employees and an annual budget of $52.6 billion. Earlier, as Under Secretary for Management, he was responsible for the department’s financial management and for the procurement and management of such mission-critical assets as information technology systems, facilities and equipment. Currently at Chertoff Group, Schneider counsels clients on budgeting, procurement and overall management issues related to security programs and serves as a strategic consultant to the defense and aerospace industries.

“We are honored to welcome Doug, Chuck, Dave and Paul to the Strategic Advisory Group,” said SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney. “Their expertise and knowledge, combined with that of our existing SAG members, will benefit SCRA as we grow as a leader in applied research and commercialization and continue our commitment to strengthen South Carolina’s Knowledge Economy.”
