Seven Richardson Plowden attorneys selected to 2016 South Carolina Super Lawyers

Richardson Plowden & Robinson, P.A., announced that six of its attorneys from the Columbia office, George C. Beighley, Emily R. Gifford, Eugene H. Matthews, William C. McDow, Steven J. Pugh, and Franklin J. Smith, Jr., and one of its Myrtle Beach attorneys, Marian W. Scalise, have been selected to the 2016 South Carolina Super Lawyers listing.

Super Lawyers is a national listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The magazine is published in all 50 states and features articles about attorneys named to the Super Lawyers list. Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. The publication is used as a supplement in leading newspapers and magazines across the country and is distributed to all attorneys in the state or region.

This is the fifth year Beighley has been recognized as a South Carolina Super Lawyer. He was recognized for his work in Personal Injury Defense: Medical Malpractice. Beighley has been practicing law for more than 39 years and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Law.

This is the third year that Gifford has been selected as a South Carolina Super Lawyer. She was previously listed as a South Carolina Rising Star in 2012 and 2013. She was selected for her work in Construction Law, which she has practiced for more than nine years. She earned her Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law.

Matthews has been honored as a South Carolina Super Lawyer for the last eight consecutive years. He was recognized for his work in Employment and Labor Law. Matthews has practiced law for 19 years and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.

This is the fourth year McDow was selected as a South Carolina Super Lawyer. He was honored for his work in Personal Injury Defense: Medical Malpractice. McDow earned his Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law. He has practiced for 25 years.

This is the first year Pugh was selected as a South Carolina Super Lawyer. He was selected for his work in Civil Litigation Defense. Pugh earned his Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law. He has practiced law for 26 years.

This is the third year Scalise has been selected as a South Carolina Super Lawyer. She was honored for her work in Personal Injury Defense: Medical Malpractice. Scalise has practiced law for 21 years and earned her Juris Doctor from USC School of Law.

Smith has been recognized as a South Carolina Super Lawyer for the last nine consecutive years. He was honored for his work in Construction Litigation. Smith has practiced law for more than 30 years and earned his Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law.
