The South Carolina Association of Technical Colleges is thrilled to announce the recognition of Dr. Forest Mahan, President of Aiken Technical College, as the 2023 Southern Region CEO of the Year by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). Dr. Mahan’s exceptional achievement showcases his visionary leadership, dedication to inclusivity, equity, and excellence, and his profound impact on the field of education.

The prestigious 2023 Chief Executive Officer Award for the State of South Carolina has not only brought honor to Dr. Mahan but has also garnered welldeserved national recognition within the Southern Region. The ACCT represents a network of over 1200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States and beyond.
Keyatta Priester, Chair of the South Carolina Association of Technical College Commissioners, Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and Board Member of ACCT, expressed her admiration for Dr. Mahan’s remarkable contributions to the education community. She emphasized, “Dr. Mahan’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and excellence serves as a shining example, not only in South Carolina but on a national scale.”
Joe Lewis, Chair of Aiken Technical College, also extended his heartfelt congratulations, recognizing the significance of this achievement.
