Spinx offers high speed electric vehicle charging stations
Spinx, a local company dedicated to providing the state of South Carolina the best of convenience store offerings, is increasing their fueling capabilities at several locations throughout the state. On May 3rd, Spinx will host a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating their new, high speed Level 3 electric vehicle charging stations. These newly installed EV charging stations have the capability of charging a vehicle in under 30 minutes.
The ribbon cutting will be held at 9AM at store 209, located at 901 Marue Drive, Greenville, SC. This store is one of seven Spinx stores throughout the state that feature the new Level 3 EV charging station.
As part of the ribbon cutting, there will also be a charging demonstration with a Nissan Leaf, an electric car that can drive upwards of 100 miles per charge. The partnership between Spinx and Nissan is bringing charging stations to the South Carolina market.
These new Spinx charging stations are part of Nissan’s “No Charge to Charge” program where eligible Nissan Leaf owners receive 24 months of complimentary public charging. Although the initial partnership is with Nissan, these charging stations can be used for any E-vehicle, provided the owner has their vehicle specific charging port.
Spinx entered the renewable fuels market in 2011 by installing Level 1 and Level 2 charging stations at five Spinx stores spread from the Upstate to Charleston. Level 1 and Level 2 stations charge vehicles in several hours. With more E-vehicles on the road, and demand for a faster charge, Spinx wanted to provide the convenience of the high speed Level 3 charging station. Five of the new charging stations can be found in the Upstate market, one in the Columbia market, and one in the Charleston market. Spinx selected the locations based on traffic counts and proximity to highways and interstate travelers.
