The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC), the County-chartered organization tasked with advancing the area’s economic growth, announced that Sun City Produce, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sun Commodities, Inc., is establishing operations in Greenville County. The project is expected to create 81 new jobs over the next five years, and will be housed in a 113,000 square-foot facility at 920 Matrix Parkway in Piedmont, S.C.

Headquartered in Pompano Beach, Fla., Sun Commodities, Inc., which operates as the Sun Group of Companies, is a privately-held organization majority-owned by Hillandale Farms. As a leading producer of fresh fruits and vegetables, the firm is aiming to expand its growing retail market across the Southeast in the coming years.

“Greenville County is uniquely situated to meet the needs of distributors looking to grow in the Southeast though our comprehensive, interconnected infrastructure,” said GADC President and CEO Mark Farris. “We look forward to seeing Sun City leverage Greenville’s many advantages to grow its presence in the region.”

Greenville County Council Chairman Dr. Bob Taylor noted, “We are seeing an increasing number of distributors become contributing members of the Greenville economy, and we are pleased that Sun City Produce has selected the Matrix Industrial Park as a location that will provide the resources needed to be successful.”

“Greenville ‘s workforce is what makes developments like this possible,” said GADC Chairman Dick Wilkerson. “Organizations like Sun City Produce bring opportunities for Greenville’s well-equipped, qualified residents to thrive in challenging and rewarding careers.”
