United Community Mortgage Services is pleased to welcome Ted Honney as a Mortgage Loan Officer. Honney has over 25 years of professional banking experience, 15 of which have been spent in the mortgage lending sector. He will be based out of the bank’s Mt. Pleasant location.

“Ted’s knowledge of Charleston and experience in mortgage lending make him a great addition to our team in this area,” said Mike Davies, President of United Community Mortgage Services. “Coastal South Carolina is one of our key focus markets and an area where we are seeing great success. I am confident that Ted will be a great resource in this market and excel with United Community Bank.”

Honney is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studied economics. Prior to joining United, he served as an Assistant Vice President – Mortgage Loan Originator for South State Bank. He has also previously worked as a Mortgage Lender for First Federal (now part of South State Bank) and Branch Manager for Wachovia.

“I have held a variety of roles throughout my career and I most enjoy helping clients find the right solution to their goals through mortgage lending,” said Honney. “United is unique in that it offers a full range of products similar to those of a large bank but operates with the care and service of a community bank. I am excited to be a part of this growing team and to continue supporting clients throughout the Charleston area.”

Originally from North Carolina, Honney has lived in Charleston since 1992 and has been a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church since 2003. He has two sons, Taylor and Patrick, and one daughter, Caroline.
