The COMET and FoodShare to offer healthy food access at the transit center

The COMET is partnering with FoodShare South Carolina to make it easy and affordable to access fresh fruits and vegetables.  The COMET Is committed to connecting people to place where they can access fresh food.  Now, The COMET is bringing the food to the people with the help of FoodShare. The FoodShare Fresh Food Box is filled with 12-15 different top-quality fruits and vegetables fresh from the Farmer’s Market!

How does it work?  Fresh Food Boxes will be available on two Wednesdays a month at 3:00pm – Closing on the “Pick-Up” days.  Pick Up Days are:

  • November 6th
  • November 20th
  • December 4th
  • December 18th

The boxes are only $5.00 if paying with SNAP/EBT. Boxes are only $15.00 if paying with CASH.  Limited number available.  First come, first served.

About The COMET

The COMET is a service of the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority and provides countywide public transit services on 35 fixed routes, two ReFlex services and DART ADA complementary paratransit service throughout Richland and western Lexington Counties. The COMET transports approximately 2.8 million passenger trips a year on a fleet of 81 buses and vans. Transit services are provided under contract with Transdev Service, Inc of Lombard, Illinois.
