The Comet service enhancements will begin November 5th

Monday, November 5, 2018 there will be Service Enhancements to The COMET fixed route services, including DART and ReFlex services.  The goal to provide these service enhancements for increasing ridership and making riding The COMET, fast, fun, friendly and easy!

Among the changes will be Route 28 which will extend out to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.  This route will service the airport every two hours Monday through Saturday.  This is the first time that a bus has gone to the Airport since 2005.

The COMET has also formed a partnership with Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens.  Passengers whom show a The COMET day pass will receive a $3.00 discount off admission, per passengers with a day pass.  Route 84 will serve Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens on request, every 60 minutes during Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens hours.

Richland District 2 students, employees and facility members will be able to ride all The COMET routes unrestricted by simply showing their ID card to the bus operator.

Half fare Day, 5-Day and 7-Day passes are now available on the bus for sale by simply showing your proof of eligibility to use these passes.

The COMET will also be modifying holiday service with Sunday level of service on Dr. MLK Day, Presidents Day and Veterans Day (No service on Routes 17, 26, 28, 46, 47, 52X, 53X, 57L, 62) and Saturday level of  service operating on the Day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve due to lower ridership (No service on Routes 17, 46, 47, 52X, 53X, 62).

The following routes will experience changes and enhancements:  6, 11, 12, 13, 17, 26, 28, 31, 52X, 62, 63, 75, 84, 88, The 101, The 601, The 701 and DART.

More enhancements will take place in January 2019, including new Soda Cap Connector routes, hourly service in Lexington County and new services to Amazon, Nephron, SCANA and CMC Steel along the 12th Street Extension along with a fare increase to all single fare, day passes and the restoration of transfers.
