The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport has Boost in March Passenger Traffic
April 14, 2011GREER, SC – April 14, 2011 – Bigger jets, lower fares and more destinations provided a big boost in passenger traffic at The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) in March.
GSP Passenger traffic saw a 38 percent increase compared to March 2010, and an amazing 63 percent increase from February 2011. There has been a steady increase in passenger traffic at GSP recorded from December 2010 through February 2011 with a boost in March from the arrival of Southwest Airlines coupled with a strong competitive response from all the other carriers operating out of GSP.
“When we were working to bring new low fare service to the people of the Upstate, we never intended to bunt. The goal was always to knock the early projections right out of the park and I think that is exactly what’s happened. The community has made an early and strong statement by returning to GSP in a big way and we look forward to that that trend continuing into the future,” said Dave Edwards, GSP Airport Commission President/CEO.
Traditionally, March signals the beginning of the warm weather travel season and across the board, almost every airline operating out of GSP saw a significant increase in passenger enplanements.
