The secrets of advertising – Why would anyone want to advertise?

February 29, 2016

By Jerry Bellune

Many business owners don’t advertise because:
1. They think they have enough business without it.
They have great stuff and everyone wants it.
That’s not true and most of us know it.
This may be a good month. Next months may not be.
Most businesses are cyclical with good and bad times.
Resorts have seasons when they can make money.
It has to be enough to carry them through off seasons.
Restaurants have weekends to do the same.
2. They don’t know how to do it profitably.
They may have tried it and it didn’t attract sales.
Or they heard from others about lack of results.
Knowing advertising’s secrets would be a deal maker.
It would bring them a steady flow of sales and revenue.

3 reasons to ignore the secrets of advertising are:
1. You don’t have anything to sell.
2. You don’t have anything worth buying.
3. You’re too stupid to sell anything anyway.

Now that you’re feeling offended:
1. You can stop reading right now.
2. You can curse me all you want. It won’t hurt me.
3. You can decide to pay attention.
Anyone as churlish as I am must have a point.
What I am willing to share with you will make sense.

All I want is a few business owners who will:
1. Accept that smart advertising may help them.
2. Admit they need to know more about it first.
3. Act on what I suggest if it makes sense to them.

This is not magic, voodoo or slight of hand.
Everything I tell you is based on sound science.
It has been field tested and proved successful.
It works because it’s based on human psychology.
