November 2, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – In its seventh year, Carolina Kick Off for a Cure Presented by Gene Love Plumbing, Air & Electric will bring together 250+ fans to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and combine two of the Gamecock Nation’s favorite pastimes: food and football. The event will be held November 7th at The Zone at Williams Brice Stadium during the South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Tennessee Volunteers football game; doors will open at 2:00 pm and the game kicks off at 4:00 pm.

Tickets are $55 and include beer and wine in addition to all-you-can-eat food provided by several of Columbia’s favorite local restaurants. Both a silent and live auction will be held.

Each year, this event is made possible due to our generous sponsors. Event sponsors receive several benefits including preferred seating for company guests, company name/logo advertised in printed materials, and other event publicity. This year’s top sponsors include Gene Love Plumbing, Air & Electric, Colonial Life, Seibels Insurance Technology & Services, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Systems & Services Unlimited and many others who look forward to the event.

Cystic fibrosis [CF] is a genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the US.  CF causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and can lead to life-threatening lung infections.  The CF mucus also obstructs the pancreas, interfering with digestion.

The CF Foundation creates and funds innovative research and provides specialized medical care to improve the length and quality of life for people living with CF. This summer, the CF Foundation celebrated a huge victory and important advance for the cystic fibrosis community. On July 2nd, the FDA approved the combination drug Orkambi™ that targets the underlying cause of the disease in people with two copies of the most common CF gene mutation. Nearly half of individuals with CF have two copies of this mutation and could eventually benefit from the therapy.

Join us for a fun-filled evening full of football and tailgate treats all to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Your contribution will make a difference.
