Tommy Preston, Jr. Elected President-Elect of USC Alumni Association
May 8, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – May 8, 2014 – Nexsen Pruet attorney Tommy Preston, Jr. has been elected President-Elect of the USC Alumni Association “My Carolina”. He will serve as President-Elect for two years and begin his presidency July 2016.
Preston will be the youngest and first African American to serve as President. In addition to leading the organization, he will also serve as the Alumni member on the University’s Board of Trustees.
“My ultimate goal as President-Elect and eventually as President is to ensure that our Association is inclusive, innovative, and relevant,” Preston told My Carolina. “We need to make sure that all alumni see the value of being a member of the Alumni Association. My Carolina is in the midst of a great period of progress and change, and I want to position us to better serve our alumni members and create an environment where all alumni will want to remain connected to this special institution.”
Preston is currently Chair of the USC Board of Visitors. Preston also served as Student Body President and founded Cocky’s Reading Express™, a literacy initiative that has provided over 70,000 books to children across South Carolina.
