Tri-DAC accepting nominations for summer arts program

Lexington County School District One educators and parents can begin nominating talented students for the 2018 Tri-District Arts Consortium Summer Program.

This year marks the 33nd year Tri-DAC has provided middle school students with an outstanding and concentrated study of the arts during the summer months.

The program is designed for artistically gifted and talented students who are rising sixth-to ninth-graders in the summer before the 2018–2019 school year. Students may audition in creative writing, dance, music (strings, vocal and wind/percussion), theater or visual art.

The Summer Program will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. each day, July 2–21, 2017, on the campus of the Palmetto Center for the Arts at Richland Northeast High School. Wednesday, July 4 will be observed as a holiday. Cost for the three weeks is $400.

Arts teachers, classroom teachers, administrators or parents may nominate a student. Forms can be obtained from the district’s elementary and middle schools or downloaded from Tri-District Arts Consortium website at www.tridac.org. Nominations will close January 15, 2018. Spaces for qualified students from each district are limited.

Auditions for theater, wind/percussion and visual art students will be held March 3, 2018 at Richland Northeast High School. Auditions for creative writing, dance, strings, visual art and vocal students will be held March 10, 2018 at Richland Northeast High School. There will be no make-up auditions.
