Uncover your own Inner Sales Genius

April 26, 2018

We first met Judi McLeod as a young mother whose kids were in school. She was looking for something to do and offered to write a local names and notes column for our newspaper. In time, she helped us with production and a lot of other needs.

When she was offered a corporate job in sales, she had misgivings. We thought Judi had the makings of a top sales person. She had a bubbly personality, made a good first impression and knew how to listen.

We saw Judi the other evening at a party and she said, “You said I would be good in sales. I wasn’t sure but you were right.”
Judi had a lot more going for her in sales than we ever did but that’s not the point.

We started selling not because we wanted to. Our company’s future depended on it. Without sales we weren’t going to have a bottom line or a business.

If we can do it, anyone can. We call it your “Inner Sales Genius.”

Most of us have it. We just need to:

1. Have a reason to do it. Our company needed it but we came to love it. Helping clients and prospects make good buying decisions gave us a rewarding feeling.

2. Build your confidence. We joined a Toastmasters club. It gave us the chance to speak on our feet without notes. It was a liberating, confidence-building experience.

3. Just go do it. Experience really helps.
