Kicking Off 2014-2015 Fundraising Campaign
COLUMBIA, SC – United Way of the Midlands will officially kick off the 2014-2015 fundraising campaign with a celebration of accomplishments in tackling the tough issues the Midlands community faces. United Way donors, company representatives and volunteers are invited to join them on September 16 at 5:30 p.m. at The Hall at Senate’s End.
More than 60 local companies and organizations have already run their workplace campaigns and produced impressive results.
“This is our opportunity to thank the companies and individuals that not only show a commitment to giving in our community, but do so early and enthusiastically, and in a way which encourages others to follow suit,” said Mac Bennett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands.
In addition to recognizing past giving, United Way will share with the community how funds are used to reduce homelessness, help children to succeed in school and enable all families and adults in the Midlands to live productive and healthy lives.
“We hope that sharing our successes and accomplishments so early in the campaign will be inspiring to the Midlands community,” said Mike Gray, Senior VP of Resource Development, United Way of the Midlands. Some of these accomplishments over the last five years include providing free dental services to 11,700 adults and children, helping 1,600 children improve their reading skills and moving 4,500 people into stable housing.
“We are excited to share results of how far we have come thanks to the generous support of so many people in our community,” said Gray. “We’ve achieved so much and can do more with continued support.”
Several hundred guests, including company presidents and CEOs, company campaign directors, leadership givers and other invested community members, are expected to attend the kickoff celebration. Registration is available online at www.uway.org/events.
