Upstate International announces new public event
February 1, 2022Chinese Influence in Africa: What does this mean for the rest of the World?
Upstate International is announcing a new lunch and learn event with Dr. Trevor Rubenzer. Dr. Rubenzer is a professor of political science and chair of the department of History, Political Science, and American Studies at USC Upstate. His specialties are American foreign policy and African foreign and defense policy.
Chinese investment in the African continent has increased significantly in recent years. What do African countries and China hope to gain from the relationship? How is the relationship different from typical developmental assistance? Can African states gain the benefits of economic development without ceding economic or political sovereignty?
Join us for this live lunch and learn event on February 15 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Have any questions you may have for the speaker prepared, as we will be having a lively discussion after the presentation. This event will be held at the Kroc Center, 424 Westfield St., Greenville, SC 29601. Pre-registration for the event is required. No tickets will be sold at the door.
