USC Upstate Plans For May Commencement
April 3, 2015SPARTANBURG, SC – The University of South Carolina Upstate will award degrees to more than 800 students at its May Commencement on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:00 p.m. on the Quad behind the John C. Stockwell Administration Building.
“Commencement is always a time for celebration as we recognize those who have completed their experiences here and leave us to use capacities they have developed here for further study, productive work, and meaningful living,” said Dr. Tom Moore, chancellor of USC Upstate. “The graduates we recognize this year will further the impact of USC Upstate on Upstate South Carolina and the world.”
David T. Seaton, chairman and chief executive officer of Fluor Corporation, will deliver the commencement address. Fluor Corporation is one of the world’s leading and largest engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services companies. Seaton became CEO and joined Fluor’s board of directors in February 2011, and was elected to the role of chairman of the board in February 2012. Since joining the company in 1985, Seaton has held numerous positions in both operations and sales globally. Prior to assuming his current position, Seaton served as Fluor’s chief operating officer. He has served as the senior group president over Energy & Chemicals, Government and Power Groups and was responsible for Fluor’s activities in China and the Middle East. He led the company’s global business activities in the upstream, downstream, pipeline, offshore, gas processing, oil and gas production, chemicals, integrated petrochemical and petroleum refining industries including ICA Fluor, the company’s joint venture in Mexico. Seaton has also served as senior vice president and group executive for Fluor’s global corporate sales function. Seaton holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies from the University of South Carolina. He completed the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of Business and Thunderbird University’s International Management Program.
