Village Idiot Pizza and Pub Celebrates 25 Years in Five Points

The “Idiot” is offering monthly specials, an epic birthday party and are throwing it back to 1990
COLUMBIA, SC – Village Idiot Pizza and Pub will be “throwin’ it back to 1990” all month long to celebrate their 25 years in the Five Points neighborhood. In true 90’s style, the “Idiot” is winding back the clock to their old pricing and offering monthly specials as well as a totally rad 90’s birthday party on Friday July 31.

On Friday July 31, the restaurant will host an all-day birthday bash for people of all ages. Birthday highlights include:
- 11:30pm – 4pm: The first 25 “Little Idiots” get prizes (T-shirts, gift certificates and more) and all guests will enjoy lunch and drink specials
- 4pm – 2am: The first 25 people get prizes and the first 90 people get a raffle ticket for big prizes that will be drawn at the end of the party. Prizes include Gamecock football tickets, a year of free pizza for one lucky guest and more
- Additional entertainment includes a balloon twister during the lunchtime hours, a WXRY FM live remote from 3pm – 8pm and DJ Irv spinning the greatest hits of the 90s into the night
“It’s a milestone we had to celebrate”, said Brian Glynn, co-owner of the restaurant and bar. “We think the best way to celebrate a birthday is by rewarding the customers who helped get us to where we are today. That’s why we are offering so many chances for people to enjoy some discounted or free offerings. Considering the turn-over rate for a lot of bars and restaurants in Columbia, we think getting to 25 years is an occasion worth celebrating.”

Social media followers and loyalty subscribers (Idiot Rewards) will have extra specials and benefits in the month of July. The Village Idiot will give away a free pizza every Friday and will pick the winners from followers who have engaged with their “totally rad” Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts. Loyalty subscribers will receive a free slice of cheese pizza during the birthday party on July 31.

The Idiot is well-known for their attention to high quality ingredients and house made recipes. Always having a presence during Five Points events and other local events in the city, the Idiot is also a well-respected establishment that is involved with the community. In 2009, co-owners Brian and Kelly Glynn, opened a second location, their family restaurant, on Forest Drive. A third location is in the works for fall 2015.
