We’re Freezin’ For A Reason: Lakewood Camping Resort hosts 6th Annual Polar Bear Plunge

December 27, 2018

Tis’ the season for giving and Lakewood Camping Resort gets into the holiday spirit this season with its Polar Bear Plunge event. Bring your family, friends, and toe warmers to the sixth annual Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday, December 29 at 12:00 p.m. at Myrtle Beach’s original campground – Lakewood Camping Resort. All proceeds from the polar plunge will benefit local nonprofit Help4Kids/Backpack Buddies of Horry County.

Help4Kids/Backpack Buddies is a 100 percent volunteer organization that relies solely on donations. Help4Kids assists the local Horry County children in need of food, clothing and hygiene products. Each participant in Lakewood’s Polar Bear Plunge will donate $10 at sign-up, with all proceeds supporting the Help4Kids organization.

“This event has become one of our favorite ways to bring the community together for fun, fellowship and philanthropy,” said Robert Clinger, general manager of Lakewood Camping Resort. “Polar Bear Plunge participants will be able to partake in a cheerful, bone-chilling event while helping those in need in their community. We’re very proud to be a continued supporter of Help4Kids making sure that Horry County children are not going to school hungry or without the proper clothing, shoes or school supplies.”

Be sure to sign-up by Friday, December 28 at the Information Center or by calling 843-447-7343. Just one $10 donation will feed four children for one week; together we can all make a difference!
