Weekend Storm Event Turns Laurens County into Winter Wonderland
January 17, 2022The weather forecast for winter precipitation this past weekend delivered a mix of sleet, freezing rain and snow to Laurens County.
During winter, this area is prone to freezing rain and sleet and the bulk of our precipitation in this storm was just that. The accumulation of freezing rain on trees and power lines made for some dangerous situations and significant power outages throughout the area. Laurens Electric and the City of Clinton utility crews worked hard to restore power to impacted areas. Many thanks to the utility workers and first responders who worked long hours to keep us safe and get the lights back on.
The winter event provided just enough ground cover for some sledding and some beautiful pictures. Laurens County looks pretty covered in a blanket of white.
