White Knoll High Booster Club kicks off shoe drive

October 17, 2016

Members of the community can support the White Knoll High Athletic Booster Club this year by cleaning out their shoe closets.

A shoe drive is now underway until Friday, January 13, 2017, to raise funds for the WKHS Athletic Booster Club. The club will earn money from Funds2Orgs based on the total weight of the shoes collected.

Funds2Orgs purchases the donated footwear, and the proceeds will benefit the athletic programs at not only WKHS, but also Carolina Springs Middle and White Knoll Middle.

All donated shoes will be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of microenterprise partners in developing nations. Funds2Orgs helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses in countries such as Haiti, Honduras and other nations in Central America and Africa.

Proceeds from the shoe sales are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school.

By donating shoes to the WKHS Athletic Booster Club, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives.

Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used or new shoes at any of the three schools and at home football and basketball games until the January deadline.
