Written goals make a difference
October 30, 2017By Jerry Bellune
This is so obvious we hesitate to share it: Writing your goals turns dreams into reality.
A friend was struggling to finish writing a book on successful selling strategies.
The book was based on his own sales experience. He had found what worked for him.
He figured it would help others in sales.
He envisioned the book would be about 250 pages. He had written more than 100. The finish line was far off.
He had been working on it for four years. Several times he wanted to quit.
Then two friends gave him valuable advice:
One advised him to narrow the scope of the book.
Make it 75 to 80 pages as the first of three volumes.
His friend had done that and his books had sold well.
Those who liked Volume 1 were good prospects. They bought Volume 2 and Volume 3 when they came out. Now they buy all his books.
The other friend advised him to use a goal setting plan and gave him a model to use.
He listed all the steps needed.
He listed who would be needed to help with each.
Each step also had a deadline to be completed.
Suddenly the book became a shorter project. He finished the book a month later.
No matter how big your dream, you can do this.
Big goals usually require assistance. List who can help and ask for their assistance.
Make it worthwhile for them to want to help you.
Money is not the only incentive. Some will be pleased to get credit for what they did.
