GREENVILLE, SC – YMCA of Greenville announces the addition of Carrie Morningstar as the new development specialist for its Judson Community Center. The center is a unique branch of the YMCA of Greenville that serves families in the Judson community with high-quality pre-school, the only accredited afterschool program in Greenville, and summer day camp programs.

In her new position, Morningstar is responsible for writing grants, collaborating with the center’s volunteer board and fundraising in the community to help provide families scholarships to reduce tuition costs at Judson Community Center. Additionally, Morningstar is responsible for coordinating all grant writing efforts for the entire YMCA of Greenville association, and serves as its United Way liaison.

“We are thrilled to have a development specialist of Carrie’s caliber join the YMCA of Greenville’s Judson Community Center to help further our mission of developing youth, promoting healthy living and being socially responsible,” said Scot Baddley, president and CEO, YMCA of Greenville. “Her exceptional ability to connect our community to the heart of a cause will positively affect the children and families who we serve in this community.”

“When you can look outside your office door and see the direct impact of the dollars raised for the kids we serve, you are driven to do your very best for them,” said Carrie Morningstar, development specialist, YMCA of Greenville. “Being a part of the YMCA is ingrained in my DNA. My late father helped start a YMCA in Western North Carolina. I know he would be so proud that I am serving my community through my role at the Y, and I hope to achieve great things for our children in his memory.”

Morningstar, who graduated from Mars Hill University with a B.S. in Recreation Administration, has dedicated more than 26 years of her career to non-profit fundraising. She previously served as a campaign manager for United Way of Greenville County, working to recruit and manage volunteers. Additionally, Morningstar was responsible for company fundraising campaigns for United Way of Greenville County, which totaled over $2.1 million.
