Carolina Children’s Home gives 2024 scholarships and grants

July 2, 2024

Carolina Children’s Home (CCH), a nonprofit that provides financial services and advocacy to children’s initiatives in South Carolina, announced that it is providing a total of $331,500 in scholarship and grant allocations for the 2024 giving cycle.

This annual funding round will support 20 scholarships for Midlands students pursuing degrees in fields crucial to children’s welfare, as well as 17 grants to nonprofit organizations that give back to the Midlands community through various initiatives aimed at enhancing child and family well-being.

“Now in our seventh year of awarding grants to Midlands nonprofits and scholarships for students dedicated to children’s causes, Carolina Children’s Home is honored to play a pivotal role in fostering brighter futures in our local community,” said Jeff Manning, CCH Board of Directors Chairman. “These initiatives underscore CCH’s commitment to bolstering educational opportunities and community support throughout the Midlands region.”

CCH offers scholarships and grants once a year to help improve the quality of life within our communities. With this year’s latest haul, CCH has now given out more than $1.6M over the past seven years, benefiting many students and nonprofit organizations across the Midlands area.

Scholarship and grant recipients are subject to a few requirements to be considered eligible for aid. Scholarship recipients must be residents of the Midlands and accepted or enrolled in a college or university pursuant to a degree in social work, psychology, medicine, nursing, or counseling. Eligible nonprofits should be located in and support residents of Midlands counties through either the physical and mental health needs of children, building strong family structures and parental involvement, or supporting children’s education.

This latest round of scholarships and grants come as CCH recently welcomed several new Board members, including Manning as Chairman, Allen Bridgers as Vice-Chair, and Margaret Dibiase as Secretary. With experience in a variety of industries and a network of connections across the Midlands, these new additions to the Board will provide valuable insights to advance CCH’s mission of meeting the underserved mental and physical health needs of children, young adults and their families.
