September 11, 2024

The community is invited to join the Lander University Wind Ensemble for its first performance of the 2024-25 season Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium at Lander. This event is free and open to the public.

About the Event:

The first concert in the Wind Ensemble’s 2024-25 series is devoted to different styles of dance music. Featured selections include“Danse Macabre,” “Ballet Parisian” and “Suite of Old American Dances.” This year, the ensemble welcomes many new students, both as music majors and non-major ensemble participants, who join many returning members.

The Lander University Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Reed Gallo, director of bands and chair of the Department of Music at Lander. Gallo, a professor of trumpet, studied with Ron Romm, a founding member of the Canadian Brass, and many top orchestra performers. Throughout his distinguished career, Gallo has performed on solo tours in Europe, including the Kmoch Festival in Prague, and Southeast Asia. Gallo’s former students are award winning educators, successful performing artists and military band members.
