Mission Lexington receives $5,000 grant from WellCare

Mission Lexington announced the receipt of a $5,000 grant from WellCare of South Carolina.

The grant will provide funding necessary to ensure the stabilization of individuals and children in crisis across Lexington County. Mission Lexington provides emergency services to over 21,000 people annually, who receive food, clothing, shelter, financial assistance, to include rent, utility, mortgage/rent, and prescription medication vouchers, at no cost. Mission Lexington also provides social service referrals to local partner agencies when necessary.

Wellcare of South Carolina provides government-sponsored managed care services, primarily through Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, to families, children, seniors and individuals with complex medical needs. The partnership with Mission Lexington provides additional support to over 4,000 residents insured by Wellcare in Lexington County.

Mission Lexington (formerly Lexington Interfaith Community Services) is a 501(c ) 3 organization that provides life essentials, resources and guidance to Lexington County residents in moments of crisis. The organization was founded in 1978 by four Lutheran churches and now partners with more than 50 Lexington County churches, county government and law enforcement officials, school districts and individual volunteers to help stabilize living conditions for some of the county’s most vulnerable citizens.
