Project Rx: A River Remedy Announces Date & New Partners
May 10, 2011Drug Disposal Taskforce Launches Second Take-Back Event
GREENVILLE, SC -June 18, 2011 – Project Rx: A River Remedy, a community-driven medication collection event, will hold its second drug take-back event this summer on June 18, 2011 from 10am to 2pm.
This summer event follows Project Rx’s launch in November 2010, which resulted in the collection of more than 400lbs of unwanted medication that was properly and securely disposed of through the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
The Project Rx community taskforce is led by Renewable Water Resources, and includes Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, Greenville Family Partnership, Greenville Safe Communities Drug-Free Alliance, and Greenville Technical College.
New to the taskforce for the upcoming event is Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital System, Carolina Institute for Community Policing, Greenville Hospital System, Upstate Forever and Whole Foods Market.
Thanks to the new partner support, Project Rx is expanding its take-back event to two locations: McAlister Square off Pleasantburg Drive and St Francis Downtown off Hwy. 123. Participants can drop off unwanted or expired prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins & supplements, and veterinary medicine – no questions asked.
Event managers ask that participants use a black sharpie marker to eliminate any personal information on prescription medication labels, but to leave the name of the drug visible to ensure proper disposal procedures. Sharps, needles, etc. will NOT be collected at the event. For more information, visit the Project Rx website, http://www.aRiverRemedy.org or call 864-467-4099.
