Breon Walker appointed to Airport Commission

Ms. Breon Walker has been appointed to the Richland-Lexington Airport Commission and will represent the City of Columbia on the Commission.  Ms. Walker is a litigation attorney and partner with Gallivan, White & Boyd, P.A., in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina office.  Her practice includes defense of personal injury claims, products liability defense, commercial litigation and government relations.

Ms. Walker earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a double major in marketing and management from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 2000.  She earned her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 2003.

Breon is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the South Carolina Black Lawyers’ Association where she was recently elected as Vice-President, the National Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and the Richland County Bar Association, on which she served as the Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Division from 2009-2014.  She is also a member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association’s (“SCDTAA”) Board of Directors.

In January 2011, Breon was recognized by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly as one of South Carolina’s “Top Ten Emerging Legal Leaders.”  She has also been recognized as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” from 2012-present.  In 2013, Breon was selected by the National Bar Association as one of the “Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40.”

Breon is involved in the community through her service work with the Columbia Chapter of The Links, Inc., as Co-Chair of the Annual Golf Tournament.  She currently serves on the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s Diversity Council and the Board of Directors of the 701 Center for Contemporary Art.  In January 2015, she was selected as one of 38 leaders from across the Midlands and surrounding areas to participate in the 8th Midlands class of the Riley Institute at Furman University’s Diversity Leaders Initiative.  Breon is also a 2011 graduate of Leadership Columbia.
