Entrepreneurial Secrets: Your own client advisory group

April 24, 2017

By Jerry Bellune

Do you know all your clients’ wants and needs?

A client advisory panel will tell you.

It will make you totally client-focused.

We do it in our VIP Club Master Mind sessions.

We constantly call on our clients at their work.

We call them to find out what’s new and newsy.

That gives us news for our Around Town column.

Here are some other easy-to-do secrets:

  1. Hire mystery shoppers to shop you.

Find out how good your customer service really is.

They can do it online, by phone and in person.

  1. Be a resource to your clients.

No matter what they need, find it for them.

It may have nothing to do with your business.

But find someone reliable who can take care of it.

I found someone to lay down a tile floor for a client.

The client felt good. So did the contractor.

  1. Shower clients with tender loving care.

Speak to them simply. Use their language.

Don’t use jargon they can’t understand.

  1. Bring a first class, five-star attitude.

Treat your clients and employees well.

They will treat clients they way you treat them.

I try to treat my people as if they were volunteers.

They are bright. They could go work elsewhere.

I don’t want them working for my competitors.

  1. Give ’em what they want, when they want it.

And give it to ’em the way they want it.

  1. Give back to your current clients.

Do you offer specials for first-time clients?

Offer something special for current clients, too.

  1. Always show your clients you care.

Why do many businesses lose clients?

Almost 70% leave due to attitudes of indifference.
