Conversations with Walter Edgar to focus on American Revolutionary War

The University of South Carolina’s popular annual series, Conversations with Walter Edgar, will run Jan. 12 – Feb. 9 and focus on South Carolina’s role in the American Revolutionary War. The history series presented by the university’s College of Arts and Sciences features conversations between guest speakers and university historian emeritus Walter Edgar. The talks, which are free and open to the public, will take place 5:30-6:30 p.m. each Tuesday in the Capstone House campus room.

The first speaker is Lawrence Rowland, a professor emeritus of history from USC Beaufort. Rowland, who co-wrote “The History of Beaufort County, South Carolina,” will discuss colonial South Carolina as a melting pot of people and cultures.

Other speakers will include Daniel J. Tortora, Colby College, on Jan. 19; Woody Holton, UofSC, on Jan. 26; Jack Warren, Society of the Cincinnati, on Feb. 2; and Carol Berkin, Baruch College, on Feb. 9.
