March 9, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – North Springs Elementary School has been awarded the 2015 National Association for Professional Development Schools (NAPDS) Award for Exemplary Professional Development School Achievement.

The award recognizes schools with professional development school relationships for their ongoing contributions to the mission and vision of the NAPDS in creating and sustaining genuine collaborative partnerships between P-12 and higher education.

North Springs was the first K-12 school to receive the award in 2009 and is the first school to be honored with this award twice. Principal David Holzendorf, North Springs’ staff and University of South Carolina partner Dr. Kelly Bucheister received the award in Atlanta at the Professional Development School National Conference.

“In order to provide the best education possible to our students, our teachers must remain life-long learners,” said Superintendent Debbie Hamm. “Their commitment to learning helps to ensure they meet the needs of our students and truly provide a world-class education.”
