Mammography Van Coming to Columbia Metropolitan Airport

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Delta Air Lines is coordinating with Palmetto Health Baptist to bring their mammography van to Columbia Metropolitan Airport on Monday, October 20th.
Mammography is an x-ray of the breasts that can detect very small lumps three to five years before they can be felt (when they are most treatable). When detected early, breast cancer cure rates approach 100 percent.
Participants must schedule an appointment by October 16 by calling Palmetto Health at 803-296-8888 or by visiting www.palmettohealth.org and selecting Appointment. The following is required to schedule an appointment:
- Insurance card
- Date mobile will be at the airport (10/20/14)
- Doctor’s full name (first & last) and full mailing address
- Women under the age of 35 will also require a doctor’s order
Insurance cards and doctor’s notes will also be required on screening day.
The van will be located on the lower level of the airport terminal across the street from the baggage claim area. The time of arrival will be dictated by the appointments scheduled.
This is open to the general public; however, should less than 25 women schedule appointments, the event will be canceled.
