Mike Biediger Celebrates 20 Years with Lexington Medical Center

WEST COLUMBIA, SC – June 30, 2009 – Lexington Medical Center President & CEO Mike Biediger is celebrating his 20th anniversary with the hospital.  The Lexington Medical Center board of directors honored Mr. Biediger at its June meeting and presented him with a resolution for his leadership and service. 

Mr. Biediger has been part of Lexington Medical Center’s leadership for two decades.  He joined the hospital as executive vice president and chief operating officer in 1989.  In 1996, he became president and chief executive officer.

Here is an excerpt from the resolution presented to Mr. Biediger:

“WHEREAS:  Mr. Biediger has demonstrated an excellent understanding of the health care industry and needs of our citizens, has focused on bringing important technology and services to our hospital and has created an unparalleled employee culture of caring, dedication and teamwork and

WHEREAS:  Mr. Biediger has envisioned and put into practice a successful plan for strategic growth and a comprehensive network of care to build a positive future for Lexington Medical Center and its community.

We, the Board of Directors of the Lexington County Health Services District, Inc., wish it to be known to all persons that we honor Michael J. Biediger for his dedication and service to the people of our community.”

Before joining Lexington Medical Center, Mr. Biediger was an executive vice president and vice president at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.  He also worked as a hospital management consultant and manager for SunHealth.

Mr. Biediger holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Clemson University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.

Mr. Biediger is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and was named the South Carolina Healthcare Executive of the Year in 1990 by the organization.
