Statement From The Cliffs Communities
January 11, 2009TRAVELERS REST, SC – January 9, 2009 – The Cliffs Communities issued the following statement today in response to the Associated Press story claiming Jim Anthony, the Company’s Founder, was stepping down to retire.
James B. Anthony has not retired, nor is he planning to retire in the foreseeable future, as President of The Cliffs Communities, Inc., and we regret that comments made during this interview about his changing role lead to that conclusion.
As a result of the continuing evolution in the management structure and normal corporate succession planning at The Cliffs Communities, Jim Anthony now has the opportunity to direct more of his efforts to global strategic planning and health and wellness initiatives, but he will still be actively involved in the business. The Cliffs’ executive team, including his son Lucas, supported by senior management, will help guide the company according to Mr. Anthony’s vision, with his active participation.
‘The Cliffs Communities has been a part of my everyday life for the past twenty plus years,’ said Jim Anthony, ‘and that will not change. Or maybe I will start taking off every other weekend!’
