Members of Anti-Cruelty Deployment Team Leave for Virginia: Charleston Animal Society Assisting ASPCA

March 24, 2015

CHARLESTON, SC – Charleston Animal Society is deploying two animal care specialists to help in the rescue efforts involving two different cruelty cases that took place in the Southeast.

One of the cases involves an alleged puppy mill based in Needham, Alabama.  130 dogs were rescued from a large, substandard breeding facility and have since been transferred to an ASPCA rescue shelter at an undisclosed location.

The ASPCA’s national “No Pet Store Puppies” campaign seeks to raise awareness about the connection between puppy mills and pet stores to end the demand for puppy mill dogs. For more information about puppy mills and how to fight animal cruelty, visit www.nopetstorepuppies.com.

The second case involves the closing of Innocent Hearts Animal Rescue in Mountain View, Arkansas.  Organizers there realized they were no longer able to take proper care of almost 100 dogs they were sheltering, including Huskies, Beagles and Labs.

“It is part of our mission statement to stop cruelty wherever it exists and sending our two team members is just one example of our commitment,” said Charleston Animal Society Director of Anti-Cruelty and Outreach Aldwin Roman.
