CHARLESTON, SC – STATEMENT

Our state legislators want pediatric health care to be the best it can be for South Carolina’s children. We are thrilled and thankful that they have recognized the value MUSC brings to pediatric care for patients throughout the state. With the funds outlined in this capital reserve bill, we will be able to continue to move forward with this critical project. We remain committed to our part of this public-private partnership by raising at least $50 million of the $350 million needed to build and support the new children’s hospital and women’s pavilion.

And once again, our state legislators have sent a strong supportive message regarding MUSC’s and the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance’s goals of bringing world-class care to the rural areas of our state. With the funds outlined in both the general appropriations and capital reserve fund bills, we will be able to expand and continue using the latest telehealth technologies to connect patients and providers across South Carolina with our expert health care team.
