Fifth Annual Green and Lean 5K: Brittlebank Park May 22nd
May 19, 2010CHARLESTON, SC – May 22, 2010 – The 5th Annual Green and Lean 5K will be held on Saturday, May 22nd at 8 AM to benefit school-based environmental education and litter prevention programs. The Green and Lean 5K brings together two organizations, City of Charleston’s Keep Charleston Beautiful and the local non-profit Friends of Keep Charleston Beautiful.
The race will begin at Brittlebank Park and participants will run down Lockwood, through Hampton Park Terrace, around Hampton Park and back to Brittlebank Park. Registration on or before May 20th is $20, $25 the day of the race. This year the Green and Lean 5K will offer $100 cash prizes to the over all Male and Female 1st place winners. Other awards and medals will be given based on age group and time. In addition to the regular race awards prizes will be given to the first stroller and first leashed dog to cross the finish line. The event will also include a silent auction full of local goods ranging from rain barrels to recycled cutting boards. All proceeds from this event go to support waste responsibility and litter prevention education programs so come on out and show your support for our youth, our community, and our environment.
Keep Charleston Beautiful is dedicated to promoting the cleanliness and beautification of the City of Charleston through education, public awareness, and community involvement. Friends of Keep Charleston Beautiful is a non-profit organization that financially supports Keep Charleston Beautiful’s programs and projects in an effort to further its mission of a clean and litter-free Charleston.
