Mitt Romney to visit The Citadel
March 29, 2010CHARLESTON, SC – April 1, 2010 – Former GOP presidential candidate and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will visit The Citadel on Thursday, April 1, 2010, to speak and sign copies of his new book.
Romney’s visit is sponsored by The Citadel Republican Society, one of the largest active cadet clubs on campus. Members engage in community service, take part in political education and sponsor speakers and events for the campus and greater Charleston community.
Romney’s visit will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Buyer Auditorium in Mark Clark Hall. It is free and open to the public. Copies of his book “No Apology: The Case for American Greatness” will be available for sale in The Citadel Gift Shop on the first floor of Mark Clark Hall.
Romney served as governor of Massachusetts from 2002 to 2007. Before that he was president and CEO of the Salt Lake City Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics and headed up a Boston management consulting firm and founded a Boston investment company. As governor of Massachusetts he signed landmark legislation that expanded health insurance access using subsidies and mandates. In 2008 he was a candidate for the Republican nomination for President but lost to Sen. John McCain.
Romney is a graduate of Brigham Young University, Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School. His book “No Apology: The Case for American Greatness” is a presentation of his views on economic and geopolitical matters.
