Drew Stevens of Northwestern Mutual selected as 2019 Judith M. Davis Volunteer of the Year award winner

United Way of the Midlands announced Drew Stevens of Northwestern Mutual as the selected applicant of the 2019 Judith M. Davis Volunteer of the Year Award.
“This award honors the spirit of Judy Davis’ commitment to constantly improving the Midlands,” said Sara Fawcett, United Way President & CEO. “We were pleased to have many qualified candidates to choose from, and we look forward to Drew and our other Young Leaders Society donors to continue carrying on her legacy of service.”
Drew Stevens has been engaged with United Way of the Midlands since 2013 as a valued volunteer and donor. Stevens is a Young Leaders Society (YLS) donor, is active on the YLS Steering Committee and acted as Chair in 2016 and is one of the youngest Alexis de Tocqueville Society members. He is a past Board of Directors member where he acted as the YLS liaison and continues to serve in other voluntary leadership roles on United Way’s Campaign and Revenue committees. Stevens received the 2017 Live United Volunteer Award, which recognizes one’s service and spirit of volunteering with United Way.
“I am humbled to receive this scholarship in Judy Davis’ honor and will work tirelessly to uphold her values of service over self,” said Stevens. “Although I never volunteered directly with Mrs. Davis, through her legacy, I am motivated to work towards positive change in our community. I greatly appreciate this way of honoring Mrs. Davis’ legacy and dedication to our community and the United Way of the Midlands for giving me this opportunity.”
The award recipient was selected based on a demonstrated commitment to community service and a desire for professional development. The recipient must be an active donor in United Way of the Midlands’ Young Leaders Society, possess a minimum of 50 hours of community service in the past year, has at least one year of nonprofit volunteer board or committee service, and must be currently employed with a for-profit organization. The recipient will receive tuition and travel expenses to attend a Harvard University Leadership Development course in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
