SCACAA recognizes Ryan Bean with merit and communications awards

The South Carolina Association of County Agricultural Agents (SCACAA) recognized Clemson Extension Area Forestry Agent Ryan Bean in the areas of programming and communications during its annual meeting held May 15-17 in Clemson.

On Wednesday, May 15, during the SCACAA awards banquet Bean was awarded a Certificate of Merit, which was presented based on his excellence in Extension programming in the agricultural area over the past year. Programs of note included: Master Wildlifer, Prescribed Burn Seminar and Field Tour, Timber Tax Workshop, and the Growing Our Future Annual Forestry Meeting.
Bean also received statewide communications awards in the following categories:
- First place, learning module or notebook
- First place, published photograph and caption
- First place, video/TV segment
- Second place, feature story
- Second place, computer generated graphics presentation
Bean serves on the SCACAA board as the Natural Resources Chair. He has been in his current role with Clemson Cooperative Extension for going on 7 years. Kershaw County is his home office, where he serves as County Coordinator, but Bean is also responsible for Richland, Fairfield, Chesterfield and Sumter counties. He also responds to questions and requests for site visits across the state. Bean specializes in prescribed burning and wildland fire.
SCACAA membership is open to all County Extension Agents, State Extension Specialists and State Extension Administrators who have a Baccalaureate or higher degree in Agriculture, Forestry or a related field. In addition, members must have agriculture responsibilities, including youth agriculture, written into their position description. The South Carolina Association of County Agricultural Agents (SCACAA) was formed to promote professional welfare with Clemson University; to encourage and promote higher standards of attainment in agent work; to foster harmonious and cooperative efforts within the Extension community; and to cultivate a closer relationship among its members.
