Richland Library guides families through winter break

Winter break is right around the corner for tens of thousands of students in Richland County, but learning doesn’t have to stop. Richland Library has some suggestions for staying engaged at home while spending quality time together as a family.

Pick up a carry-out kit at any library location while supplies last. Our staff is creating educational and art-related activities on the go. Each kit includes basic supplies and an instruction sheet.

Choose a holiday recipe online. Our staff is publishing 12 of their favorite cookies, candies and sweets. While baking, listen to “The Gingerbread Man” on the library’s storytelling phone line. To connect, call 803-799-9084 and press “six” on the keypad.

Enjoy virtual storytimes on the library’s Facebook Page. Our staff is sharing stories, songs and stretches to build early literacy skills. A programming schedule is available at richlandlibrary.com. Past storytimes are also available on demand through the library’s YouTube Channel.

Stream seasonal movies with a library card. Our staff is recommending some hidden gems on hoopla and Kanopy, such as Max’s Christmas/Ruby’s Snow Queen/Max’s Rocket Run, Seven Candles for Kwanzaa and Hanukkah Bear.
