Laurens County Development Corporation Relocating to Downtown Laurens

The Laurens County Development Corporation recently announced that they will be relocating their office to the recently renovated Midtown Building in the heart of downtown Laurens.

The move to the new space is effective January 1, 2022 and is said to accomplish several different goals.

“This is a move that helps us accomplish two goals.  The SC Department of Commerce has encouraged communities to establish “landing pads” to help businesses transition into their move into South Carolina.  This was also a major initiative outlined in our most recent strategic plan.  Also, over the last several years, companies have become increasingly interested in the quality of life of a community and its sense of place,” said Jonathan Coleman, LCDC President and CEO. “With this move, we will be able to transform our current space into a landing pad, and our new space will provide a first impression that Laurens County is a great place to not only do business but to live and move your family to.”

The LCDC has been in the current space for fifteen years.  Vacating the space will provide the Laurens County Chamber with more space to accommodate their needs.  The Chamber is planning to hire two new employees and has plans to use some of the vacated space for a landing pad for entrepreneurs. Landing pads provide a workspace for startup businesses.

Coleman reported that the LCDC will sign a 5-year lease with The Midtown Building and occupy the second-floor space. The first-floor retail space was recently leased to The Coffee Roost. The upstairs space will include three offices, a kitchenette, open common seating area, and two conference tables for meeting space.
