New Promotional Tool Unveiled for Exploring Laurens County’s Revolutionary War History on Bicycle

The Laurens County Trails Association (LCTA) has announced the launch of an innovative promotional tool aimed at showcasing the County’s rich Revolutionary War history through a unique biking experience. Developed in collaboration with the Laurens County 250th Sestercentennial Revolutionary War Committee (LC250) and the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce (LCCC), this initiative promises to offer both residents and visitors an exciting journey through time.

A dedicated sub-committee of the Trails Association, comprised of Justin Brent, Susan Johnson, and Sandy Johnson, worked to develop a cycling route app for this trail system.  Once this app was in place, they joined forces with ChristainTaylor, LCCC Tourism Marketing Manager, to spearhead the creation of a comprehensive brochure highlighting key historical sites from the American Revolution that are accessible by bicycle. Made possible through generous funding from a Laurens County A-Tax grant, this initiative integrates traditional printed materials with cutting-edge technology, featuring the utilization of QR codes for an enhanced user experience.

The brochure will be distributed locally, as well as at South Carolina Welcome Centers, and various area bicycle shops and cycling clubs. It offers enthusiasts a curated selection of fourteen significant stops along a specially designed biking path, which not only showcases the historical importance of each location but also ensures a safe and enjoyable journey for participants.  The QR code links to the app, where cyclists can map out their ride based on a preferred distance.  

“This collaborative effort represents a milestone in our ongoing mission to promote awareness and appreciation for Laurens County’s vibrant history,” remarked Bud Marchant, spokesperson for the Laurens County Trails Association. “By merging the expertise of the LC250 in developing a driving tour with our passion for creating cycling-friendly trails, and the creative design prowess of the LCCC team, we’ve crafted an engaging experience that will captivate history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts alike.”
